Our experience delivering cyber security programmes across multiple industries has consistently underscored the importance of holism. Efforts to “harden” both the technology perimeter and related governance must be integrated with effort around the “softer” disciplines of strategy, change management and culture management.
Many cyber security vendors are preoccupied with addressing only the “harder” elements of cyber security. Modern business culture, with its intense focus on innovation and agility, therefore presents a fundamentally problematic layer of complexity when it comes to implementation.

Spencer Summons, Director of Cyber Security
Chris Rivinus, Director of Change Management
Spencer has 20 years of experience as a security expert and professional. His career path began with Counter Terrorist operations in the military where he was awarded the Queens Commendation for Bravery. Upon leaving the military, Spencer completed an MBA leading him to open his own security consulting company. He went on to work in the banking industry in kidnap and ransom programmes, before being invited to serve as a Protective Security Advisor to the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure. His holistic approach marked by a commitment to preserving and enhancing competitive advantage through application of risk management principles has further led to appointments in Big Four consultancy and as a Chief Information Security Officer in the Oil and Gas industry. Spencer also holds CISSP and is a member of the Institute of Explosive Engineers and the Chartered Institute Personnel and Development.
Chris has won academic and business media honours for his ongoing work in cultural and corporate anthropology. His interest in the relationship between innate human behaviour, IT and business success has led him to an MBA, an additional MA in International Business Transactions and a Certificate from the US Department of Homeland Security in Industrial Control Systems Security Management. Chris is a recognized thought leader in the relationship between culture and governance compliance having been published and featured in magazines such as Knowledge Management Review, The Risk Universe and Business Information Review. He has over 20 years experience in IT management.
Ethan Decker, Head of Research
Ethan has 20 years experience conducting innovative research across a range of disciplines. He earned a BA in sociology and a PhD in evolutionary biology -- along with a program in Complex Systems Theory at the Santa Fe Institute -- before launching a career in journalism and advertising. He blends his experience with quantitative research, statistical analysis and data visualisation with skills in ethnography, audience analysis, behavioural economics and social psychology. He is widely recognised for his work and thought leadership on influence in group social dynamics.
